TransRe, a reinsurance company wholly owned by Alleghany Corporation, has appointed Bastien Potentier as an underwriter for Property and Alternative Solutions to its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) team.
Bastien will be based in Zürich, Switzerland and focus on clients’ property needs, including traditional property cat and non-cat, alternative structures like solvency quota shares, portfolio swaps, and multi-year covers.
Previously, Potentier served at Arch Re for over eight years, most recently as a Property Underwriter & Actuary based in Bermuda. His other roles at the reinsurer include serving in actuarial and underwriting roles.

Earlier in his career, he served as a reinsurance actuary at AXA Global Re, and also underwent professional training for I.L.S. quantitative analyst at SCOR Global Investments, and as an analyst at the Group Reserving Department of SCOR.
Potentier has been a member of the thesis committee of the French Institute of Actuaries for almost seven years.
