Insurance industry merger and acquisition deals announced in the fourth quarter of 2019 totalled $11.43 billion in the US, according to GlobalData’s deals database.
This value represents a 174.03% increase over the previous quarter and a rise of 355.3% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $2.51 billion.
The US held a 56.5% share of the global insurance industry M&A deal value that totalled $20.24 billion in Q4 2019.
In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 108 deals during Q4 2019, marking a drop of 14.3% over the previous quarter and a drop of 10% over the last four-quarter average.
The top five insurance industry M&A deals accounted for 99.8% of the overall value during Q4 2019.
The combined value of the top five insurance M&A deals stood at $11.41 billion, against the overall value of $11.43 billion recorded for the month.
