Bermuda-based reinsurer Validus Re has promoted Sven Wehmeyer to serve as executive vice president, head of international.
Reporting to Chief Executive Officer Chris Schaper, Wehmeyer succeeds Steve Bardill in the role, who retires later this year.
Wehmeyer will maintain his current responsibilities for Validus Re’s non-US property reinsurance and overseas offices.
He has been with the company since 2006 and brings years of international experience to the role.
“Under Sven’s leadership, I look forward to the sustained innovation, growth and profitability VRS has demonstrated,” said Schaper.
Bardill is described as having served as a dedicated officer since Validus Re’s formation in 2005, and has played an important part in the establishment of our international business.
“Please join me in thanking him for his service and many contributions,” Schaper added.
“Until his retirement in October 2021, we are fortunate to have Steve’s counsel as he assists Sven and the team with the transition of his duties.”
