Vito Gattuso joins CCR RE as Credit & Surety Underwriter

French reinsurance company CCR Re has appointed Vito Gattuso as a Credit & Surety Underwriter.

ccr-re-logo-newAccording to the announcement, Gattuso’s addition strengthen the Specialities & Global Risk team within CCR Re’s Underwriting Department.

He joins the firm from Aon Reinsurance Solutions, where he most recently served as Credit, Surety & Financial Risks Reinsurance Broker. Prior to that he spent over two years at AXA Partners in Paris as an International Underwriter.

Before AXA, Gattuso also was a Credit Underwriter for Cofase, a role he held for close to three years. He started his insurance career at Elba Assicurazioni S.p.A.where he served as a Surety Underwriter for eight years.

Commenting on Gattuso’s appointment, Hervé Nessi, CCR Re’s Chief Underwriting Officer, said: “Vito Gattuso’s appointment is a very positive step for CCR Re and our clients. It highlights the commitment of talented people to our business plan, who are keen to put their expertise to work for our clients.”

Gattuso joins CCR Re in a year when the firm has reported profitable growth, which according to the firm, reflects the quality of its renewals that took place 1st of January and 1st of April and well as the relevance of its underwriting policy.

For the first half of 2023, CCR Re saw a turnover of €907 million, up 19% from the same period in the year prior, a figure supported by stronger profitability in its non-life business segment.

The re insurer also saw a non-life combined ratio of 94.6%, which is down by over three percentage points on the first half of 2022. This was achieved in spite of the impacts of the earthquakes in Turkey, floods in Italy in May, and the storms experienced in France in June.
