The West of England P&I Club has announced the appointment of Sumit Madhu to the Club’s London Underwriting Team as a Senior Underwriter, effective April 14, 2020.
Madhu previously served as a Captain on LNG vessels with a major Japanese shipowner, and later joined the claims department of another International Group Club.
After this, he transferred to underwriting where he had responsibility for the Middle Eastern, Indian, and Japanese regions.
Madhu brings specialist knowledge of the LNG sector and other tanker markets to West of England P&I Club, as well as underwriting and claims experience.
The Club noted that he will also complement its continued development of offshore and other specialist products.
“This appointment further illustrates the West’s commitment to service delivery and our continued focus on supporting our Members globally and we are therefore delighted to welcome Sumit to our Underwriting Department to support the excellent team we already have in place,” said Group CEO Tom Bowsher.
