Willis Re bolsters Australia division with senior appointments

Willis Re, the reinsurance arm of global insurance broker Willis Towers Watson, has announced some leadership changes within its Australia division, including the appointment of John Philipsz as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Willis Re Australia, effective immediately.

willis-re-logoPhilipsz will be based in Sydney, and will continue to push the development of the reinsurance broker’s services in Australia. Prior to Willis Re, he worked at Willis Towers Watson Securities. He moved to Sydney from London in 2015 as Co-Head of Asia Pacific, and brings more than 20 years of investment banking experience to the role.

Willis Re has also announced that Head of Catastrophic Analytics for its International unit, Karl Jones, is to relocate from London to Sydney in the first-quarter of 2019, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in the Australian marketplace.

Lastly Warren Dresner, Willis Re Australia’s Head of Broking, is to relocate to Miami, U.S., as a senior member of the firm’s Latin American business. This transition is expected to occur in the third-quarter of 2019.

The addition of John and Karl to the Willis Re team in Australia will strengthen our operations in the Australian market to drive our next phase of growth.”
