Willis Towers Watson’s Smaje joins BGC Insurance as CEO, global aviation & space brokerage

BGC Insurance Group, a division of BGC Partners, Inc. has named Philip Smaje as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its new global aviation and space re/insurance brokerage.

BGC PARTNERSThe appointment of Smaje follows the recent addition of JLT’s Marcel Chad as President of the unit and subject to regulatory approval, Smaje will join the firm on completion of his notice period obligations.

Most recently, Smaje served as Global Head of Broking at insurance and reinsurance broker, Willis Towers Watson (WTW). He joined WTW in 1988 in its Aviation division, and went on to hold a number of senior roles, which includes CEO of its Global Aviation Practice.
