XL Catlin has expanded its Latin America Marine Underwriting team with a string of new hires and promotions in Brazil and Mexico.
In Mexico Francisco Campos, previously Junior Underwriter, was appointed to Marine Cargo Underwriter; in Brazil Karina Amaral joined the team to take up the same position.
The re/insurer announced the promotion of Aline Watanabe to Marine Cargo Manager, and Cintia Takahashi to Marine Liability Underwriter in Brazil.
The Mexican team’s promotions include Ruben Chanona as new Head of Marine, and Nalini Vargas who joined as an intern last year to Marine Cargo Junior Underwriter.
Mauricio Giuntini, Regional Head of Marine for Latin America, said; “In 2016, our marine insurance team achieved outstanding growth across the different products we offer. In order to keep underwriting market-leading insurance for our brokers and clients, it is critical that we continue to invest in our team.”
XL Catlin said Takahashi and Amaral bring strong technical underwriting experience in the fields of Marine Liability and Cargo and Construction Equipment respectively.
Watanabe has worked with XL Catlin since August 2011, when she joined as Marine Underwriter, and has experience in leading Cargo Global Programmes and in product development.
She now manages broker relationships and leads commercial and underwriting strategies.
