Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK), part of global insurance group Tokio Marine, has appointed Yixiang Yang as the new Head of Accident and Health for the Asia-Pacific region, effective immediately.
Yang is an expert in accident and health underwriting with nearly 20 years of experience in the APAC region.
He joins TMK from Zurich, where he served as the Line of Business Head for Accident and Health in Singapore, successfully doubling the portfolio size during his tenure.
Pavlos Spyropoulos, Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific, commented: “Accident and Health is a key product for TMK in Singapore. We have been writing A&H on the Lloyd’s Asia platform for more than a decade and are rightly regarded as a leader in the class, due, in no small part to the strength of our claims function.”
“A&H will also be a key driver in meeting our growth ambitions of doubling the size of our Lloyd’s Asia platform by 2027.”
Before his role at Zurich, Yang was a Distribution Manager at Axa, where he focused on health and lifestyle products, developing new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with brokers and financial advisory firms across Asia. He began his underwriting career at NTUC Income.
This appointment is part of TMK’s strategy to expand in Singapore and drive growth in the region. The company aims to double the premiums written through its Lloyd’s Asia platform by 2027. In March, TMK also expanded its property division by hiring Jonathan Grossman as an underwriter in Singapore.
Spyropoulos continued: “Yixiang is a recognised expert in A&H, who brings the requisite underwriting expertise, commercial acumen and entrepreneurial flair to accelerate our growth and deepen our presence in target markets across Asia. I am very pleased to welcome him to the team.”
