The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has announced that Tim Bailey, UK CEO, Zurich, has been appointed as President.
At the same time, the ABI has also confirmed that Clare Bousfield, Chief Executive, Retail and Savings, M&G plc, has been named the new Deputy President. Both appointees take up their roles with immediate effect.
In his role as President, Bailey replaces Barry O’Dwyer, Group CEO, Royal London.
O’Dwyer was the first person to hold the role under ABI governance changes introduced in 2021, alongside Cristina Nestares, UK CEO, Admiral Group plc, as Deputy President.
ABI has stated that Bailey will hold the role for the next two years. In addition, Bousfield will step down from M&G in the autumn.

Bailey, ABI President and UK CEO, Zurich, added: “It’s an honour to take on the role of ABI President.
