Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has promoted Tresa Stephens to region head of cyber for tech and media in North America.
Stephens will begin her new role on 1 April and will be succeeding Thomas Kang.
Joe Caruso, regional head of financial lines for north America, whom Stephens will be reporting into, released a statement regarding her appointment.
Caruso said: “Tresa has done an outstanding job in executing our national cyber strategy and steps into this Cyber leadership role with our full confidence for continued success. With a stronger focus and more defined approach, AGCS continues to make strong inroads in the North American cyber market.”
Stephens joined AGCS North America in September 2020 as a regional product leader, northeast region for financial lines. She has been instrumental in developing and implementing AGCS cyber underwriting strategy as well as compelling service capabilities for AGCS distribution partners and clients. Stephens has also led efforts to develop and enhance technical underwriting capabilities through qualitative cyber training within the business line across geographies.
Previously, Stephens led the east region cyber practice of Argo Group as an underwriting manager – Tech E&O and Cyber. She also held underwriting positions at Chubb, where she was an executive underwriter for Financial Lines. She has also worked for Hiscox.
Allianz has been a consistent voice in cyber insurance recently. Back in January, the firm said that cyber was one of the top concerns for businesses this year. That was through its Allianz Risk Barometer.
