AEGIS London hires James Hyett as Cargo Underwriter

Lloyd’s managing agent AEGIS London has announced the appointment of James Hyett as Cargo Underwriter.

james-hyettHyett joins AEGIS London from Sompo International, where he most recently served as a Marine Underwriter.

His London market career spans 18 years and he has previously positions as a Placing Broker at a number of broking firms, including Lockton. He began his career in the claims department of JLT.

In his new role, Hyett will be based in London and will report to Richard Palengat, AEGIS London’s Head of Marine & Energy.

Palengat commented: “James brings a diversity of experience across a number of cargo sub-classes to complement our existing portfolio.”

“He will be working closely with underwriter Dave Allen and the rest of the cargo team to shape and position the AEGIS London cargo account for the medium-to-long-term,” he continued.

“This includes expanding our digital offering in the cargo space – our Stock Through-Put product on OPAL, which is our online quote-and-bind platform.”

AEGIS London is the UK-based subsidiary of AEGIS, a mutual insurer with a focus on the energy industry, and operates out of the AEGIS London Syndicate 1225 at Lloyd’s.
