15th March 2018 - Author: Staff Writer

Independent Lloyd’s broker AFL Insurance Brokers (AFL) has appointed Alex Mott to head up its newly launched commercial Marine division, as Director of Marine.

Mott previously managed the Ed / CGNB Marine broking team as Head Broker. His career as a Lloyd’s broker and broking team manager has seen him specialise in multiple marine risks, including hull and machinery, disbursements, war risks and P&I.

AFL Chairman Toby Esser said: “The launch of a commercial Marine division is a logical step for AFL as we continue to grow the business into a full service intermediary. We are responding to increased demand from clients for a modern, proactive approach to processing and placing Marine business, and are delighted that a skilled insurance professional of Alex’s calibre is coming on board.”

AFL Insurance Brokers’ expansion of its Marine division comes as part of a larger effort to build out its wholesale and retail capabilities, with recent growth including the appointment of Mike Almond to its Corporate division, and the appointments of Barry Rowland and Chris Cavani as Directors in the growing Property & Casualty businesses.

AFL Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bob Finch said: “An experienced Lloyd’s broker and team leader, Alex is the perfect fit to drive our Marine division forward. We are committed to developing and adopting the latest technology and modernisation initiatives to deliver efficiencies in processing and placing marine business, and maintain London’s position as a global leader in marine insurance.”
