AGCS’ ART division appoints Houlihan to lead Americas on permanent basis

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has named Thomas Houlihan as the firm’s permanent regional head of Americas within its Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) division.

new-allianz-logoBased in New York, he reports to Grant Maxwell, global head of ART.

Houlihan has been serving in this role on an interim basis since May 2021 and is described as having been instrumental in the execution of it’s new strategic direction in the region.

He is also reported to have improved underwriting and servicing processes, increased visibility with brokers and clients and collaborated with other business divisions.

Houlihan joined AGCS in May 2014 as an executive underwriter in liability and previously was northeast team leader and regional practice group leader for construction, liability national accounts. He then joined ART in January 2020.

Prior to AGCS, Houlihan held positions at Allied World Assurance, The Navigators Group and Arch Insurance Group.

“Thomas has certainly hit the ground running and already made significant inroads as our new ART leader for the Americas region,” said Maxwell.

“He is most deserving of attaining this role on a permanent basis, and we all look forward to his continued success and the prospects for continued growth of our line of business across North America going forward.”
