Agile Insurance Group, a managing general agent (MGA) providing underwriting and risk solutions across international markets, has confirmed a number of senior appointments within its underwriting leadership team as it continues to develop its presence in Australia and New Zealand.

Mark Hunt, active underwriter for Agile Underwriting Services Syndicate 2427 since its establishment in 2024, has been appointed group chief underwriting officer.

He will assume responsibility for all underwriting activity across the business, including the syndicate, service companies and MGA platforms in Australia, London and New Zealand.

Hunt has more than four decades of experience in underwriting. He spent over 27 years in the Lloyd’s market before moving to Australia in 2011, where he has since held senior underwriting management roles, bringing a broad perspective across both global and regional markets.

David Hughes has been promoted from deputy active underwriter to active underwriter of Syndicate 2427. Based at the Agile box at Lloyd’s, he will continue to represent the syndicate across all classes of business in the London market and remains available to brokers on a face-to-face basis.

Hughes has 27 years’ experience as a marine underwriter at Lloyd’s, along with periods establishing syndicate operations in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Mike Dalton, group head of aviation, will also take on the additional role of head of underwriting (Australia). He will support the management and development of underwriting teams across the region. Dalton has more than 30 years’ experience in aviation underwriting and class management in Australia and New Zealand, and holds a commercial pilot’s licence.

The appointments follow the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals and take effect immediately.

Robin Barham, CEO of Agile, commented: “These promotions demonstrate the depth of talent we have in the team and provides team members the freedom to develop a broader vision. I’ve known each of them from different areas of the industry for more than 20 years, so I couldn’t be prouder to have all their talents working together to lead the underwriting business. I’m particularly delighted that we’re able to promote internally and to create opportunities for other team members.”
