Insurance giant American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced the appointment of Lex Baugh as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), North America General Insurance, reporting to Peter Zaffino, CEO, General Insurance.
The appointment is effective immediately, and sees Baugh take responsibility for the oversight of AIG’s U.S. and Canada General Insurance operations.
Baugh has been with AIG for more than three decades, and was most recently President of Liability and Financial Lines. Prior to that, Baugh was President of Global Casualty, AIG, and also served as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Head of Strategic Planning for AIG Property Casualty, and also previously as President and CEO of Chartis Europe Holdings Limited.
Zaffino, commented on the appointment; “Lex brings an enormous amount of leadership experience to this role, with over 30 years at AIG. I look forward to working with Lex and Chris Townsend, who we recently appointed as CEO of International General Insurance, to transform our business globally into a profitable and growing organization, aligned with the market and with the needs and expectations of our clients and distribution partners.”
AIG has also announced that as part of the changes within its General Insurance segment, George Stratts is to be named CEO of Lexington Insurance Company, reporting to Baugh and serving on the General Insurance Executive Leadership Team.
Stratts joined AIG in 1999, and was most recently global President of its Property and Special Risks unit, and previously served as Executive Vice President of Lexington Insurance, a U.S. excess and surplus underwriter.
