Allianz announces new Board additions

Allianz SE has announced a number of changes to its Board of Management, including the additions of new members, Andreas Wimmer and Sirma Boshnakova.

new-allianz-logoWimmer, who currently serves as CEO of Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG, will succeed Jacqueline Hunt as head of the asset management division and Allianz Life in the US, effective October 1st.

Hunt has decided to step back from her day-to-day responsibilities as Member of the Board of Management and has instead been appointed a strategic consultant to Oliver Bäte, Group Chief Executive.

Wimmer’s role as CEO of Allianz Leben will be taken over by Katja de la Viña, currently the chief financial officer of Allianz Deutschland AG from January 1st, 2022.

Boshnakova, meanwhile, holds a position as CEO of Allianz Partners at present, and will succeed Sergio Balbinot on the Board after his term expires at the end of December.

She will work closely with Balbinot and assume portfolio responsibilities from him in the course of 2022, allowing Balbinot to focus even more on the strategic priorities in Asia Pacific, which Allianz views as an region of geographic importance and strong growth potential.

Allianz also announced its intention to formally extend the contracts of Board members Renate Wagner and Klaus-Peter Röhler at its upcoming February 2022 meeting.

“The strategic succession decisions announced today by the Supervisory Board are supported by Allianz’s deep and diverse talent bench across the company, including leaders like Katja de la Viña and others who are readily able to step into new roles,” he added.

Michael Diekmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Allianz SE, also commented: “With the appointments of Andreas Wimmer and Sirma Boshnakova we continue to strengthen our Board of Management with very capable talent. The projected extension of the mandates of Renate Wagner and Klaus-Peter Röhler also underscores the stability and strength of our management team.”
