Allianz Insurance adds Chris Varley as Chief Analytics Officer

Allianz Insurance has added Chris Varley as Chief Analytics Officer, a newly created position effective from March 2022.

new-allianz-logoVarley will be responsible for increasing data and pricing capabilities while creating a distinct analytics strategy across the organisation.

He joins from Willis Towers Watson, having served as a senior director in a role that’s seen him develop and deliver cutting edge analytics strategies in the commercial insurance market.

Prior to that, Varley was with Zurich Insurance for 13 years across various positions, most recently head of underwriting transformation.

In his new role, he reports to Simon McGinn, CEO, Allianz Commercial.

Commenting on the appointment, McGinn said, “I’m delighted to be welcoming Chris to this new position.

“The appointment of a chief analytics officer reflects our ambition to embed and co-ordinate analytics across the whole of our Commercial business, underlining its importance as a core foundation for our future success.

“Chris brings many years of experience and tremendous knowledge of the market which will complement the skills of his new team.”

Varley added, “It’s a very exciting time to be joining Allianz and to be taking on a leading role in the adoption and development of the latest analytic techniques and tools in support of its Commercial business.
