Allianz UK has enhanced its renewable energy proposition and introduced simplified operational wording for customers with multiple technologies at the same site.

new-allianz-logoThe update coverage applies to onshore wind, ground-mounted solar and hydro, biomass, and anaerobic digestion. It also encompasses battery energy storage systems and Slow Reserve (replacing legacy STOR) – technologies that help keep electricity supply and demand in balance.

Through Renewable Energy Select, multi-technology and grid-stabilisation assets at one site are consolidated under a single operational policy.

This removes the requirement for separate policies per technology, simplifying insurance management for brokers as customer portfolios grow.

UK’s renewable energy market is growing, with over half of its electricity from renewables. Projects grow more complex as the UK targets Clean Power 2030, supported by planned clean energy investments exceeding £30 billion annually through 2035.

The proposition combines Allianz’s underwriting, risk prevention, technical advice, and engineering inspection to assist brokers and clients.

Over 750 UK engineer surveyors partner with renewable energy risk specialists to pinpoint exposures, mitigate losses, and maintain safe, compliant, and reliable operations.

Brokers can obtain insurance, risk management, and engineering support for both construction and operational stages, including Construction All Risks.

Additionally, the UK, team leverages Allianz’s global renewable energy expertise across more than 70 countries and its large-corporate resources to deliver tailored solutions.

Karen Boothroyd, Head of Construction, Engineering and Energy, UK Markets, Allianz UK said: “The UK’s transition to renewable energy brings significant opportunities, but the risks are changing too. Different technologies carry different risks during construction, and operation, including disruption to the business. Connections between equipment, supply chains and grid infrastructure also mean problems in one area can have wider consequences.

“Our aim is to make it easier for brokers to arrange cover as their customers’ projects develop. By bringing together insurance, engineering inspection expertise and practical risk prevention support we can help owners and operators understand those risks, prevent losses, and keep their assets operating reliably.”
