The African nation of Angola is close to finalising the creation of a national reinsurance company, according to reports from Macauhub.

Angola flag mapAngoRe will be a partnership between the Angolan State and domestic and foreign private investors.

Aguinaldo Jaime, the President of the sector regulator, stated on Monday that the new company should be presented to potential shareholders within three months.

Jamie had previously stated that AngoRe will retain a significant part of the risks assigned to the international reinsurance market.

He also revealed plans that would see the creation of an insurance academy in 2019 to train Angolan staff, without the need to send those to foreign schools, which he said was “very expensive.”
