Aon’s Johnston & Komposch join Guy Carpenter, Bermuda

Guy Carpenter, the reinsurance broking arm of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has appointed Robert Johnston as Chairman of its Bermuda operations, and Peter Komposch as Head of Casualty and Specialty, Bermuda.

Guy CarpenterThe appointments are effective immediately and both Johnston and Komposch join Guy Carpenter from rival brokerage Aon.

Johnston brings almost two decades of experience in Bermuda to the role, most recently serving as President of Aon Reinsurance Solutions in Bermuda. He will report to John Trace, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of North America, and Kevin Fisher, Chairman of UK and Global Specialties and Chairman of London North America.

Komposch previously served as Managing Director of Aon Reinsurance Solutions in Bermuda, and also brings significant industry experience to Guy Carpenter’s Bermuda operations. He will report directly to Robert Johnston and John Fletcher, CEO of Bermuda.

The firm has also announced that Fletcher, who has led the Guy Carpenter team in Bermuda since 2018, has been appointed CEO of Bermuda. In this role he will continue to report to James Boyce, CEO of Global Specialties.

Guy Carpenter has also named Jonathan Ogilvie as Head of Retrocession, Bermuda, and Chris Dart has been appointed to Head of Property Treaty, Bermuda.

The reinsurance broker states that the appointments of Johnston and Komposch is part of its ongoing investment in its Bermuda business, with the firm looking to enhance its position in the region and take advantage of growth opportunities.
