Arch shuffles executive leadership of U.S. reinsurer

Bermuda-based Arch Capital Group Ltd. has announced numerous executive promotions at its U.S. reinsurer Arch Reinsurance Company (Arch Re Co.), including the appointment of Peder Moeller as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1st, 2022.

ArchAlso effective from this date, Jessica Bongiorno was promoted to Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), Property and Specialty, and Joshua Hackett was named CUO, Casualty and Specialty.

The three promotions coincide with the retirement of former Arch Re North America CEO, Kevin Vivian, at the end of last year.

New CEO, Moeller, has been with Arch for almost 14 years and has served as Arch Re Co. CUO since 2017. During his tenure, has also held roles as Managing Director, Treaty Casualty, and as Director of Workers Comp and Casualty Clash. He first joined the company’s reinsurance arm in 2007 as the Assistant General Manager of Arch Re Accident & Health in Copenhagen.

In his new role, Moeller takes on responsibility for the firm’s overall direction and sustainable profitability.

Bongiorno, who most recently served as Head of Property, has been with Arch Re Co. since 2006. In her new role as CUO, Property and Specialty, she will lead the Property, Aviation, Crop, Surety and Workers Comp Cat and Clash teams.

Hackett first joined Arch Re Co. in 2016 as Director of Casualty Treaty, later being promoted to Head of Casualty. In his new role, he will lead the Casualty, Professional Liability and Structured teams.

Bongiorno and Hackett will work with business unit leaders and the underwriting team in order to deliver best-in-class performance and further establish Arch Re Co. as a leading U.S. reinsurance company.
