Bermuda-based global specialty insurance firm Ascot Group has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Johnson as Group Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective immediately.
Johnson brings to her new role extensive Property & Casualty industry experience and an excellent track record of developing and leading successful business operations.
She will be responsible for leading the company’s global operational support organisation while also overseeing the Ascot technology, business intelligence, and communications and marketing functions.
The new Group COO will continue to report to Jonathan Zaffino, Group Chief Executive Officer and President, who commented: “Since joining the company nearly four years ago, Elizabeth has consistently demonstrated the strategic vision and execution skills needed to drive and support our Group’s success.”
He added: “Her efforts have been instrumental in enhancing our operational efficiencies and underwriting discipline, and in delivering advancements in our IT capabilities. Johnson joined Ascot in 2020 as Chief Underwriting Officer, North America, and in 2022, was promoted to Chief Operating Officer, North America.
As COO of North America, she was responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of an integrated underwriting, data, and operational organisation for the region.
Prior to Ascot, Johnson served as Managing Director at Nationwide and spent nearly20 years at AIG, where she held several senior underwriting and management roles.
