Specialty insurance and reinsurance provider Aspen has appointed Matthew Botein to its Board of Directors as a new Class I Director, and as a member of the Board’s Investment Committee.
Botein is a Managing Partner of private investment and advisory firm Gallatin Point and has extensive experience in the financial services industry, having managed portfolio investments in banking, re/insurance, asset management, capital markets, and financial processing sectors.
He previously served as a Director of Aspen from 2007 to 2011 and prior to that from 2002 until 2003.
Glyn Jones, Chairman of Aspen, said; “I am delighted that Matthew is joining the Aspen Board. His wealth of financial services experience, in particular in the areas of corporate finance, private equity and asset management, will be a great asset to Aspen. Before working as a Gallatin Point Managing Partner, Botein worked with Blackrock, one of the world’s largest asset managers, who he joined in 2009, and began acting as Head of BlackRock Alternative Investors in 2010.
He also acted as Managing Director, co-Head and Chief Investment Officer of the alternative investment unit and was a member of the Blackrock’s global operating committee.
