AXA XL announces new UK Head of Energy

Peter Welton has been promoted to UK Head of Energy at AXA XL, succeeding Luis Prato, who was named Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for UK Legal entities earlier this year.

Peter WeltonIn his new role, Welton takes responsibility for developing the UK energy book and providing and designing innovative insurance and flexible solutions for AXA XL clients. Based in London, Welton will lead a team of energy underwriters.

In 2000, Welton secured a place on the Marsh Graduate Scheme, and stayed with the broker for five years, before joining the Non-Marine Direct and Facultative Property division at Catlin Underwriting Agencies, which is now AXA XL. For the next ten years, Welton held numerous underwriting roles within the energy sector, and was then promoted to Senior Class Underwriter for Downstream Energy and Power in 2016.
