RSA has announced that Martin Rueegg has joined the firm from AXA as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Middle East and UAE.
Effective September, 2019 Rueegg succeeds Lloyd East, who has moved the RSA’s Canadian operation, Johnson, as Vice President of Strategic Operations and Chief Operating Officer (COO).
East has been with RSA since May 2009, and was named CEO for the Middle East and Oman in 2014. Prior to RSA, he held a number of senior roles at Principle Insurance Holdings and the AA. He replaces Louisa Leonard, who left her position in May of this year to become COO of RSA UK and International.
At AXA, Rueegg most recently served as General Insurance Managing Director for Hong Kong, and has also served as CEO of AXA Corporate Solutions in Hong Kong. He joins RSA after nearly 25 years with AXA.
Under the changes, Praveen Kumar, who is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Middle East, will succeed East as CEO in Oman. Furthermore, Elena Stukanova, CFO of UAE and Bahrain, has been named Middle East CFO while Miron Kibria, Risk & Compliance Director for the Middle East, replaces Kumar as CFO for Oman.
CEO of RSA UK and International, Scott Egan, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Martin to his new role at what is an exciting time for our Middle East business. Martin has all the skills necessary ensure that our operations in the Middle East go from strength to strength. I’d also like to thank Lloyd for his contribution to the UK&I region, and wish him all the best in his new role at Johnson, where I am certain he will add great value to our Canadian colleagues.”
Rueegg added: “RSA’s Middle East business is one of the best performers within the RSA Group and I can’t wait to take the helm. It is an exciting new chapter for the RSA in the region as we look to build on the strong foundations Lloyd has created for the business in the Middle East.”
