Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), known for its provision of general liability, lead umbrella, and excess liability insurance across various industries, announces the promotion of Galan Riley to Senior Vice President, Casualty, in Canada.
Formerly Vice President, Casualty, Galan assumes this position following the retirement of Darryl DeSouza, who dedicated nearly a decade to the company.
Galan will lead the management of all BHSI casualty lines in Canada, encompassing energy, products, general casualty, commercial auto, construction, contractors professional, and pollution liability.
With over twenty years of expertise in underwriting casualty risks within the Canadian market, Galan joined BHSI in 2014 as Assistant Vice President, Energy Casualty, and ascended to Vice President in 2019.
“Our casualty team and casualty business have seen tremendous growth over the past decade, and Galan and Darryl were pivotal in developing and executing our strategy for expansion,” stated Kathy Reid, Head of Casualty, North America, at BHSI.
“I’m excited to work closely with Galan as he leads this important business into the future and wish Darryl all the best in his retirement,” Reid further mentioned.
