Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), the insurance arm of Warren Buffett’s global insurance and reinsurance company, has recruited Javier Villalba as Head of Claims in Spain.
Villalba joins BHSI from Zurich, where he most recently served as Director for Expert Claims (Spain) and Claims Customer Relationship Manager.
He has nearly 20 years of claims experience, 16 of which were spent at AIG.
At AIG, Villalba began as a claims adjustor, and eventually rose to the position of AIG South Europe Claims & Operations Officer.
“We are thrilled to have Javier, with his extensive industry experience, bringing BHSI’s commitment to claims excellence to customers in Spain and throughout Europe,” said Ignacio Almazan, Country Manager, Spain at BHSI.
“Claims is our product — and Javier is exceptionally equipped to bring this product to the marketplace, the BHSI way,” he continued.
Upon taking up his new role, Villalba will be based in BHSI’s office in Madrid.
