Blenheim Underwriting, a specialist managing general agent (MGA) and Lloyd’s coverholder, has appointed Ian Ritchie as Contingency Underwriter, effective June 2026.

Blenheim underwriting logoIn his new role, Ritchie will primarily focus on diversifying the existing non-appearance book by adding areas such as event cancellation, prize indemnity, contractual bonus, over redemption, film, and delegated authority schemes.

With this appointment, Ritchie joins Blenheim Syndicate 5886 non-appearance contingency team, led by Justin Burns, working alongside the existing Contingency Underwriter, Jane Todd.

The move aligns with Blenheim’s long-term growth strategy and will support the development of the MGA’s contingency offering both for clients and brokers.

Ritchie has over two decades of experience in the contingency market, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge from both a claims and underwriting background. Most recently, he served at Munich Re’s Lloyd’s syndicate.

Peter Scales, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented on the appointment, “The addition of Ian’s expertise to our contingency team will enable us to build a broader, enhanced offering in the contingency arena.

“It reinforces Blenheim’s ethos to offer value to clients and brokers by bringing independent market-leading underwriting expertise rather than simply adding capacity.”
