Insurance and reinsurance broker BMS Group has appointed Howden’s Eliot Powell as its new Group Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), based in London and reporting to Nick Cook, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BMS.
In his new role, Powell will be tasked with further expanding and delivering on the re/insurance broker’s strategic business aims.
He brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the firm, having previously grown a successful and independent brokerage business, before being taken over by Howden in late 2014.
During his tenure with Howden, Powell held various senior roles, most notably Global Chief Transformation Officer, where he was responsible for much of the digital development across the company and had oversight of the adoption of digital strategies and new ways of working.
Commenting on his appointment, Cook said: “Eliot is extremely talented, and I am pleased to welcome him to the BMS team.
“He will join the Group executive committee and will focus on delivering our strategic goals, our continued digital transformation, and the company’s geographical expansion through M&A. He will be a valuable addition to BMS as we continue to grow.”
Powell added: “I am looking forward to working with BMS as the business looks to capitalise on the opportunities currently presenting themselves in the market. Nick and his team have created an established and profitable business and I am looking forward to contributing to BMS’ continued success.”
