Brace Underwriting Limited, a multi-line and alternative risk specialist underwriter backed by Octave Specialty Group Inc., has promoted Richard Wheeler to Head of Underwriting for USA, and Michael Davis to Head of Brace London Underwriting.
The duo previously served as Senior Underwriters. Their appointments reflect a new management structure designed to support Brace’s expansion across its underwriting platforms.
Brace writes global program business via its Lloyd’s consortium and US MGA operations.
Under the new structure, Martin McBrearty remains Head of Brace UK and Europe, completing a team of three regional underwriting heads reporting to Tom Sambrook, Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).
Glenn Dorr will continue driving business development as Brace USA President and Head of Marketing, working closely with Wheeler to develop the US portfolio based out of the Boston region.
Sambrook commented, “Richard and Mike, both highly talented underwriters, have made a significant impact since joining Brace in 2024.
“Working alongside Martin and Glenn, we have in place a high-performing team to drive the next phase of growth across our target geographies.”
The changes follow a period of transition for Brace, which includes Sambrook’s move to the role of Group CUO in April 2025, from his previous role as Head of Underwriting.
Additionally, in February 2026, Albert Küller transitioned to Group Chief Executive Officer from Group Chief Financial Officer. The new leadership structure was effective April 1st, 2026.
Küller said, “Brace is undergoing an exciting period of expansion. We are proud to have established a talented team of senior underwriting leaders to support the execution of our multi-platform strategy.
“These appointments reflect both the calibre of talent we already have at Brace, as well as building a team that will provide truly exceptional service to our clients, brokers, and capacity providers.”
