Brit Global Specialty USA hires Terrorism VP from Validus

Brit Global Specialty USA (BGSU), a division of global specialty re/insurer Brit Ltd, has announced the appointment of Andrew Umphress as Vice President, Terrorism.

BRIT logoUmphress joins from Validus Specialty where he was most recently Assistant Vice President, War and Terrorism.

He previously held a number of underwriting roles during his time at Validus.

In his new role, Umphress will work closely with Brit’s existing War and Terrorism team in London to develop BGSU’s new US based offering.

He will be based in New York and report to Sara Scott, Underwriting Director at BGSU.

“We are delighted to welcome Andrew to BGSU. Brit is already an established leader for War and Terrorism in the London market and enhancing that position through our US platform is a logical extension,” said Nick Davies, President, Brit Americas.

“Andrew’s appointment underscores our ongoing strategy of hiring strong talent to support BGSU’s expertise, service and products as we focus on opportunities for scalability with sustained returns.”
