Wholesale specialty insurance company and managing general agent Burns & Wilcox has appointed two associates to its Vancouver and Calgary teams.
Cheryl Fortier joins as Western Canada Manager and Murray Houck joins as Senior Underwriter.
Fortier will be based in Vancouver and focus on expanding the company’s capacity and product offerings throughout the region.
Her role involves overseeing the growth strategy of the Vancouver and Calgary office locations and teams. She reports to Tyson Peel, Vice President, Director of Property & Casualty, Burns & Wilcox Canada.
With over 45 years of industry experience, Fortier is a well-rounded leader with specialties in complex, hard-to-place liability, including strata.
She previously served as Underwriting Manager at Cansure Underwriting, where she oversaw a team responsible for new business and renewal portfolio audits. She is also known for her previous role at TransCanada Insurance Marketing.
Based in Calgary, Houck has a background working for both Managing General Agents and independent brokerages.
He previously served as the Underwriting Manager in the Strata & Residential Realty division at Cansure and as a Senior Underwriter at TransCanada Insurance Marketing.
Houck will be reporting to Fortier.
