Canopius appoints Construction and Engineering Underwriter

Global specialty lines re/insurer Canopius has announced the appointment of John Shaw as Construction and Engineering Underwriter.

Canopius logoShaw joins Canopius from QBE, where he has served since 2014, most recently as Construction Underwriting Manager for Northern Australia.

Spencer Pearce, Head of Heavy Industry & Construction at Canopius, commented: “We are really pleased to welcome John to the team.

“His solid experience across engineering and construction risks both in the UK and Australia, and his understanding of the technical issues faced by our clients will be very helpful to us.”

Canopius underwrites direct engineering and construction risks from its offices in London and Singapore, focusing in particular on infrastructure, buildings, power generation and petrochemical construction via its London offices.

The company is also a founding member of the Construction Consortium at Lloyd’s (CCAL), which, with a capacity of US $212.5 million, is by far the largest Lloyd’s capacity available for the construction and engineering sector.
