Law firm Carey Olsen Bermuda has promoted Gavin Woods of its corporate practice to partner. He joined the team at the beginning of the year and has almost a decade of experience in the Bermuda market.
Woods has a specialist focus on corporate finance, corporate structuring, and insurance transactional and regulatory matters, which includes experience in the incorporation and licensing of insurers and reinsurers, and the listings of Bermuda Stock Exchange and alternative risk financing vehicles such as catastrophe bonds and insurance-linked securities (ILS).
His promotion increases the number of partners at the firm to four, roughly 18 months after its launch. The office now has more than 25 staff in total.
“Gavin’s arrival earlier this year was a notable lateral hire for the firm and provided a very strong endorsement of what we were setting out to achieve from a corporate perspective. Unsurprisingly, he has quickly made a significant contribution to the rapid development of our corporate practice in Bermuda and I’m delighted to congratulate him on his promotion,” said Michael Hanson, Managing Partner of Carey Olsen Bermuda.
In the most recent edition of Chambers and Partners, Woods is recognised for insurance expertise and singled out for his work in the ILS space.
