Specialty re/insurance group Chaucer is launching its own dedicated team for Renewable Power.
The team will be one of two within the company’s Energy Division, with the other being the restructured Natural Resources.
The newly created Renewable Power team will be led by Lyndsey Picton, who will be the head of renewable power. She will be responsible for building the group’s capability for underwriting onshore and offshore renewable power risks.
Kelan Hunt, active underwriter, Syndicate 1084 and head of marine, energy and aviation at Chaucer says: “Chaucer is a market leader in underwriting Energy risks and has more than a decade of experience in the Renewable Power market. The establishment of a dedicated team catering to this fast-growing sector will strengthen our proposition and provide the resources needed to service our brokers and clients.”
He added: “As major economies develop their policies around sustainably energy and net zero emissions, Chaucer is dedicated to partnering with the energy industry providing innovation, risk management and risk transfer through this transformative period.”
There has been a lot of movement without Chaucer in recent weeks, given that Hunt himself was promoted to his current role at the end of December. As Reinsurance News reported then, the company’s Paul Restarick was also promoted to head of non-marine insurance.
In a release, Chaucer Group said that its restructured Natural Resources team will be led by the current head of upstream, James Brown, who will assume the role of head of natural resources.
That team will continue to focus on customers across the value chain in the oil and gas sector, both in respect of their existing activities and operations, and in new technologies and assets associated with the transition of the energy industry away from its traditional activities.
Today’s news does not mark the end of the company’s recruiting for this team, as they are still looking for a new class underwriter, which they aim to have in place during Q2 2022.
