Cowbell Cyber has appointed Joshua Chan as its new CTO.
Chan will be joining the firm from Zimperium, where he was previously that company’s vice president of engineering. He joins Kara Owens, who joined the company earlier this month from Markel to become Cowbell’s chief insurance officer.
The company has also hired Theresa Le as head of claims and risk engineering and Dan Palardy as lead actuary in recent months.
Jack Kudale, founder and CEO at Cowbell Cyber, said: “We are pleased to welcome Joshua as our next Cowbeller. As we enter the second wave of cyber insurance growth, Joshua’s deep tech experience will no doubt help us remain a leader in the innovation required to take cyber insurance to the next level.”
The company recently closed on securing $100m in capital in a funding series led by Anthemis Group with participation from Permira Funds, PruVen Capital, NYCA Partners, Viola Fintech, and existing investors. It also recently announced a partnership between itself and Smart Choice in recent weeks.
Chan will be part of Cowbell’s continuous releases of products and services to strengthen businesses and benchmark enterprise risk exposure.
In the last 12 months alone, Cowbell has launched Prime Plus, enabling businesses to increase their coverage limits; Cowbell Rx, the first marketplace of its kind in the insurance industry; and the Software Supply Chain Cowbell Factor, providing insight into software supply chain risks.
Cowbell has also announced the launch of their new insurance captive Cowbell Re, which addresses the rising demand for cyber insurance with additional capacity. Cowbell also announced strategic initiatives with several technology vendors, such as Microsoft, AWS, Cloudflare, and Secureworks, to improve its risk management services to policyholders.
