Global law firm Dentons Lee has announced that Senior Foreign Attorney, John JungKyum Kim, and Senior Korean Attorney, Christina Jiwon Park, have both joined Dentons Lee to co-head the firms newly-formed Insurance & Reinsurance Team while serving as key lead partners in the International Disputes Resolution Team at the firm.
Together, they bring more than 40 years of combined international legal advocacy experience to join forces in handling regulatory, transactional and dispute resolution work including other related services across a multitude of legal practice areas and industries.
John is a US educated and licensed attorney in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania having extensive experience in counselling clients across various industries including re/insurance, banking and finance, among others.
Moreover, John has spent more than two decades working within the insurance industry where he has represented most leading insurers, reinsurers, brokers, agents and other market participants. His wide expertise covers corporate, finance, M&A, antitrust and competition, employment and labor, data protection and privacy, technology, media; healthcare, and other disciplines in law where he has supported leading multi-national companies and those on the Fortune 500 list.
John has worked at leading law firms and companies in New York where he was an associate at Squadron Ellenoff Plesent & Sheinfeld (which merged into Hogan Lovells) and acted as corporate counsel at AI, Reliance National Insurance Company and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. (US Branch).
Additionally, Christina is an attorney specializing in finance, re/insurance and dispute resolution in the South Korean courts with experience in other international venues.
As a former associate of the Finance Team at Yulchon LLC, Christina advised on a variety of different matters, including asset financing such as ship and aircraft financing, capital markets work including issuance of debentures, M&A of financial institutions, funds established under the Indirect Investment Act and the Capital Markets Act.
Further, Christina also spent several years as an in-house counsel at Korean Re where she specialized in reinsurance dealing with regulatory compliance and transaction work, as well as dispute resolution.
