EC3 Brokers is targeting growth in the Middle East and Africa with the launch of a new division, called EC3 Brokers MEA, which is to be led by Senior Executive Officer (SEO) Steve Hart.
This new venture, based in Dubai’s International Finance Centre, expands EC3 Brokers’ existing operations in London and the U.S.
Hart will lead a team of four in Dubai, which will broke classes including property, casualty, professional indemnity, political violence and marine.
The division will also offer extra-regional business to the local A rated markets, giving clients access to insurers which many competitors do not currently provide.
Hart has more than 40 years’ experience producing and placing large complex risks into Lloyd’s and the international reinsurance market, focusing in particular on construction risk.
In his new role, he will handle the construction and energy aspects of EC3 Brokers MEA, working closely with London-based Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Danny Driscoll.
Hart joins EC3 Brokers from JLT Re’s Dubai office, where he has worked since 2014, most recently as SEO.
He has nine years’ experience working in the Middle East and has previously held roles at RFIB, PWS and Arthur J. Gallagher, having been a Lloyd’s broker since 1980.
Hart commented on the announcement: “The Middle East has reached a turning point and the region presents strong opportunity.”
“This will enable us to bring great business to London and EC3 as a smaller brokerage is focussed on providing clients with the high level of service they expect and deserve,” he continued. “I look forward to building EC3 Brokers’ portfolio across the Middle East and Africa.”
Driscoll added: “Steve has a wealth of experience that provides a strong foundation as EC3 Brokers MEA establishes a regional presence.
“With the new team in Dubai, EC3 Brokers MEA will deliver specialised personal service, which is a primary focus for EC3 Brokers across all of our offices. We are excited to have him on board as the company gains headway and expands further afield.”
