Reinsurance broker Ed has appointed Souvik Goswarmi to its Dubai office to lead Treaty business across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), as well as India and the Indian subcontinent.
Goswarmi starts immediately and reports to Minesh Jani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ed’s operations across the MENA region. His focus will be on new business opportunities in the region and on strengthening the firm’s relationships with clients.
“Souvik’s a first-class addition to the team – and will make a significant impact on our service,” said Jani.
“Not only does he know the MENA and South Asian markets inside out, he’s also highly-respected by clients within those markets. Together with his strengths in analytics, he’s ideally-placed to leverage the new technical and analytical capabilities which Ed has been investing in.”
Goswarmi joins with 15 years’ experience, and was most recently Head of Non-Life Underwriting, Facultative and Treaty at Saudi Re.
Commenting on his appointment, Goswarmi said, “The many years I’ve spent working in this region have given me a clear insight into what works well in the broking sector, and what causes frustrations for clients.
“I’m delighted to be joining a growing business that is determined to take on those issues and offer something different.”
