Reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has appointed Junaid Seria as Head of Catastrophe Analytics for the fast-growing Latin America and Caribbean markets, with immediate effect.
Within the role, Seria will be based in London where he will harness Gallagher Re’s extensive catastrophe modelling and analytical expertise across its dedicated teams in London, Ipswich and Mumbai, as well as within the region for the benefit of local clients across Latin America and the Caribbean.
He will report to Edson Wiggers, CEO, Latin America & Caribbean.
Following this appointment, Seria becomes the latest senior market figure to join the division within recent months, as Gallagher Re continues to invest in additional talent as part of its ongoing growth plans for the region.
Overall, Seria brings 15 years of industry experience towards the role He also brings a wealth of catastrophe risk expertise, market knowledge and leadership experience to Gallagher Re. This includes model governance post-Solvency II, catastrophe R&D, climate change and actuarial analytics.
Additionally, Seria has also served in the industry as a member of various working groups such as EIOPA’s Catastrophe Expert Network, the Bank of England’s Climate Change, the Geneva Association’s Climate Change and Environment, and as Chair of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ one on catastrophe risk.
The arrival of Seria within the Latin America & Caribbean division shortly follows the appointments of Carlos Gonzalez and Harry Titherley, who joined in November and December 2022 respectively as Vice President and Divisional Director.
Based in Colombia, Gonzalez brings 15 years of specialist experience in treaty and facultative underwriting across property catastrophe and casualty reinsurance, in addition to surety, credit and political risks, as well as branch management.
Moreover, Titherley, who contains a wealth of reinsurance broking experience, most recently served as Head of Innovation for a specialist Lloyd’s and international (re)insurance broker.
