Gard, a shipowner-controlled provider of P&I, marine and energy insurance solutions, has announced the appointment of Magne Nilssen as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) London, effective March 1st, 2020.
In this newly created position, Nilssen will be responsible for all business routed through the firm’s London branch, and will report to Group CUO, Bjornar Andersen.
As well as his new responsibilities as CUO London, Nilssen will continue to lead the firm’s Offshore Energy and Marine Builders Risk segment.
Commenting on the appointment, Andersen said: “London is a focal point for the global marine insurance industry, with almost one third of the world’s marine and energy premiums being placed there. As a market-leading player, we want to make sure our presence in this centre reflects its importance with a first-class team.
