Guy Carpenter appoints Samengo-Turner as Global Facultative Leader

Guy Carpenter, the reinsurance broking arm of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has announced the appointment of Dominic Samengo-Turner as Global Facultative Leader, while Simon Delchar takes over as Head of Marsh JLT Specialty, Asia.

Dominic Samengo-TurnerSamengo-Turner will relocate to London and will report to John Trace, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), North America, with accountability also to James Nash, CEO, International.

In his new role, he will be responsible for helping to drive connectivity and collaboration across the facultative business, for creating and sharing best practices, driving facultative-related investments, strategic hiring and overseeing the broker’s network business.

An industry veteran with more than 35 years of experience, Samengo-Turner has held a number of key leadership roles in London and Asia at JLT and other re/insurance brokers. He currently serves as Head of Marsh JLT Specialty, Asia, and is based in Hong Kong.

Taking over from Samengo-Turner, effective January 1st, 2020 is Simon Delchar, who currently serves as Deputy Head of Marsh JLT Specialty, Asia. He brings three decades of industry experience to the role, and has previously held senior leadership roles at JLT, Marsh, and Alexander Howden.

In his new role, he will have oversight of the firm’s Energy, Credit, Marine, Financial and Professional, Private Equity and M&A (PEMA), Construction, and Aviation businesses for the region. He will report to Lucy Clarke, President, Marsh JLT Specialty and David Jacob, CEO, Marsh Asia, and will remain in Singapore.

Commenting on Delchar’s appointment, Clarke said: “Since its formation in April, Marsh JLT Specialty has been building on the formidable strength of talent and resources from both Marsh and JLT to deliver an enhanced offering to clients. With his experience in the industry, Simon is well suited to deliver the unparalleled expertise of our global team to clients across the region.”
