Reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter has appointed Miles Shephard, formerly of Aon, as Managing Director and Head of GC Access, International, effective October 2021.
GC Access is the reinsurance broker’s dedicated program business unit, focused solely on the development of fully optimised program solutions that connect MGAs and carriers.
In his new role, Shephard takes on responsibility for overseeing all activities across the International unit of GC Access. Shephard and the team will work with clients to offer a range of transaction service and program solutions, spanning carrier selection, insurance and reinsurance placement, capital market access, contract expertise and servicing, alongside analytical and modelling capabilities.
The business unit represents a team of dedicated program brokers, contract specialists, modellers and actuaries, and offers fully integrated services across all aspects of the MGA space.
Shephard brings more than 35 years of specialty insurance and reinsurance experience to the role, most recently serving as Executive Chairman, Global MGA & Portfolio Solutions, at Aon Reinsurance Solutions. He was also the Founder and Head of the LNA Binding Authority and Programs Unit at Benfield.

Shephard will be based in London and will report to Jameson and Kevin Fisher, Chairman of Guy Carpenter UK, Global Specialties and London North America.
