Ian Carson re-appointed Chair of Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation

The Morrison Government has announced the re-appointment of Ian Carson as Chair of the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC) for a further three-year period, commencing July 1, 2020.

ARPCCarson has served as Chair of the ARPC since July 2017 and has extensive board membership experience.

He previously served on the boards of organisations including Social Ventures Victoria, SecondBite, and PPB Advisory.

At the same time, Robin Low has been re-appointed as a part time member of the ARPC, and Maria Fernandez has also been appointed as part time member.

Both appointments are valid for a three-year period commencing from April 23, 2020.

Low has expertise in insurance accounting and experience as an insurance board member, and previously served one term on the ARPC Board.

Fernandez, meanwhile, has a background in intelligence and counter-terrorism, which the ARPC considers to be priority skills for its board.

“The Morrison Government congratulates Mr Carson, Ms Low and Ms Fernandez on their appointments, and thanks Mr Mike Callaghan AM PSM for his significant contribution to the work of the ARPC,” a statement read.

Following the terrorist events of 11 September 2001, the ARPC was established to help protect Australia’s economy from the global withdrawal of terrorism insurance for commercial property.
