Liberty Mutual Reinsurance, the reinsurance arm of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has announced the appointment of Lucas Pimentel as a Treaty Class Underwriter in its Rio de Janeiro, Brazil office.
Pimentel brings a decade of industry experience to Liberty Mutual Re. Most recently, he served as Latin America Property and Casualty (P&C) Treaty Underwriter at IRB Brasil Re.
Prior to this, he worked at Markel International in Rio de Janeiro as a Treaty Underwriter and Reserving Actuary for more than three years.
He has also spent time with Alterra Latin America as a Technical Assistant, and brokerage Towers Watson.
Liberty Mutual entered Brazil in 2009 and has offices in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
The firm announced in the middle of last year that it had launched a new reinsurance operation in Mexico under Lloyd’s registration, to serve clients in both Mexico and Central America.
