Liberty Mutual Re hires new Chief Actuary for Reinsurance

Liberty Mutual Re, the reinsurance arm of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has today announced the appointment of Hetul Patel as Chief Actuary, Reinsurance, effective immediately.

liberty mutualIn his new role, Patel takes on responsibility for driving actuarial insights to aid the reinsurer in meeting its strategic targets.

He is set to lead the Reinsurance Actuarial team, who provide pricing, reserving, and capital support to LM Re.

Patel will work alongside Brian MacMahon, current Chief Actuary, Reinsurance who retires at the end of 2021, and reports to Dieter Winkel, President, LM Re and Chris Short, Chief Actuary, Liberty Specialty Markets.

Patel brings more than 15 years of re/insurance industry experience to the firm, and joins the reinsurer from ActuariesOnTap (AoT), where he served as Director, Non-Life Consulting. Previously, he served as the Chief Actuary at Asia Capital Re.
