Liberty Mutual Reinsurance, the reinsurance unit of Liberty Specialty Markets, has announced the promotions of Matthew Pappas to Senior Underwriter and Max Mallen to Head of Portfolio Management for London and RoW.
At the same time, the company announced that Michael Reynolds will join its US Casualty Underwriting team as Underwriting Officer, based in our Stamford, CT.
Pappas has worked as a property underwriter at Liberty Mutual Re since 2018, before which he spent four years at Guy Carpenter, first as Risk Analyst and then in an Assistant Vice President role.
Liberty Mutual Re said Pappas has been an “important member of its property team” and said his promotion would support the team’s growth plans.
Mallen, meanwhile, has worked at Liberty Mutual Re since 2013, and until now was a Senior Underwriter for treaty casualty.
Prior to this, he held analyst positions at Japanese financial holding company Nomura.
In his new position, Liberty Mutual Re said Mallen will be “leading a team dedicated to optimising our global portfolio and ensuring best practices across all LM Re functions.”
Reynolds previously worked for Chubb, having taken up an underwriting position in the life sciences team in 2017, before moving into the global casualty team a year later. He also has experience as a Reinsurance Accounting Analyst at Munich Re.
