Lonny Meewes has become the new Chief Marketing Officer for Canada Life Reinsurance, a provider of reinsurance solutions for life and health, annuity, and property & casualty business.
In his new role, Meewes will focus on Canada Life Re’s global marketing and branding strategies in support of the company’s continued market expansion.
Additionally, he will also retain his current responsibility for leading the US life reinsurance sales and marketing team.
Meewes brings to his new position close to three decades of experience. He has been with Canada Life Re for over 11 years, having joined the company in 2012 as Senior Vice President – Marketing.
Prior to that he was Vice President of Marketing at Hannover Life Re America, a role he served for over three years. Before that he was Senior Vice President & Actuary at Scottish Re and Assistant Vice President – Actuary at Universal America.
Earlier in his career, Meewes was an Actuarial Analyst for Royal Maccabees Life Insur Co and well as at GE Financial Assurance (GEFA).
The news of Meewes appointment comes after the Irish-owned company announced it had entered into a long-term funding arrangement with Spry Finance.
This funding arrangement is set to re-finance the Canada Life Re’s existing loan book and provide funding of up to €100 million for future lending.
