It’s been announced that industry veteran Mark Wheeler will take a Co-Chief Executive Officer role at newly launched specialty insurer Mosaic Insurance, joining fellow Bermuda-based CEO Mitch Blaser.
Over his more than 30-year career, Wheeler has served in a variety of leadership roles, overseeing capital planning, underwriting and distribution across global markets and product lines.
Notably, he was the founder of Lloyd’s Syndicate 4000 and Pembroke Managing Agency, which was purchased in 2008 by Ironshore, where Blaser was a founding executive.
Wheeler also served as CEO of Ironshore International, and later held executive roles in global client engagement and international markets for Liberty Mutual Group following its 2017 acquisition of Ironshore.
Mosaic was launched by Blaser in February 2021, backed by anchor investor and private equity firm Golden Gate Capital.
The company combines Lloyd’s Syndicate 1609 with a wholly-owned syndicated capital management agency and underwriting hubs in Bermuda, London, the US and Asia.

Mosaic is currently assembling a team of underwriters to launch specialty products throughout 2021, having already begun underwriting war, terror and political violence coverage, as well as political risk liability, and cybersecurity, with additional product launches planned in coming months.
